Organization hierarchy

What it is

An organization hierarchy models a customer with more than one level: parent company, subsidiaries, regions, branches and departments in one account tree. Each level inherits the behaviour of the level above it and can override what differs.

Why it matters

• A customer with forty branches is one account, not forty. Head office negotiates once; each branch orders under those terms with its own budget and approvers.
• Prices and permissions set on a parent apply to its children unless a child overrides them, so a group-wide contract and a branch exception live in the same tree.
• The customer's own structure decides who sees and does what, so their finance team trusts the orders that reach them.
