Switching Search Engines

At a Glance

• Use it when: you upgrade from the database engine to Typesense, or roll back from Typesense to the database engine.
• Adds: the searchEngineReadiness preflight query, available on both engines.
• Plan for: one full reindex on the target engine before traffic moves.

Exactly one search engine is active at a time. A deployment that configures both modules fails to boot with MODULE_CONFLICT. A license can grant both engines so the customer can choose which one to run. An engine change requires a deployment and reindex.
